Hey Crafty People!
Rainbow ink blending is always a win, but today I’ve paired it with a masking technique to create bold, crisp negative space stripes. Using low tack tape, I blocked off sections and ink blended a range of rainbow colours to create a vibrant backdrop—and if you look closely at this Rainbow Masked Stripes design, you’ll spot mini Pride flag moments hidden within!
You’ll see Lesbian Pride, Bi Pride, Gay Pride—and possibly even more. Let me know if you can spot any others?
Even better? I’ve given it a little Christmas twist, so you can tick off a festive make while still staying loud and proud.
Rainbow Masked Stripes – with a Festive Twist!
- Apply strips of low tack tape across a panel of Neenah 80lb cardstock to mask off areas for your stripes. Use extra tape to shield other areas as you blend each one.
- Select your rainbow of inks—I used Hero Arts Reactive Inks—and choose 2–3 colours for each section. Blend with a soft brush, overlapping the edges slightly for smooth transitions.
- Once all areas are coloured, carefully peel away the tape to reveal your clean, crisp rainbow stripe background.
- Stamp your festive images and sentiment in Versafine Onyx Black ink, and emboss with WOW Clear Gloss for a crisp, shiny finish.
- Colour your images using your preferred medium (I used Copic markers), keeping your colour palette in sync with the rainbow theme.
- Die cut all your elements and arrange them onto your panel. Use a mix of foam adhesive and glue for layered depth and extra interest.
I can’t believe Pride Month is almost over!
Be sure to check back tomorrow for a final blog post rounding up all 30 days of colour, community, and creativity. Until then—keep crafting, keep creating, and keep being you.
Please be aware:
As part of my Design Team and Guest Design work I do often receive free products to use, but I only ever recommend products that I genuinely love.
Also, I know how incredibly lucky I am to have these opportunities, but you don’t always NEED the newest products or the ‘full set’.
So please don’t feel that you need everything.
I like to show a variety of brands and products; this way there will be something for everybody to enjoy.
