It’s been a rough few weeks, and I felt like that had a huge impact on my creativity. I missed the last release because I needed some time to recharge. I think that’s part of why I felt so incredibly inspired by this beautiful release; it’s one of those that seem to speak to you personally and I have loved working with it!

I have three cards to post for this release, all of which I made in one sitting. I love the vibrant orange & purple colours that these gorgeous Birds of Paradise grow in, and they had a huge part in inspiring my creations.

I wanted to have some subtle texture to the background, so I cut the Big Dots coverplate by Waffle Flower from some 80lb Neenah and then attached that straight to another A2 panel of Neenah 80lb to give me a subtle tone on tone backdrop for the vibrant orange panel. I trimmed this panel by 1/8 inch each side so that I’d have a small border.

I used the largest of the Postage Stamp dies, also from Waffle Flower to cut down my painted panel and popped this up onto my background with foam tape, adding the black sentiment strip across the bottom. I finished it off with a few gold Nuvo drops here & there and attached it to an A2 card base with more foam tape.

I used the Trellis cover plate die from Catherine Pooler to cut a panel of kraft card stock and trimmed this down on each edge, then I attached this directly to an A2 Neenah 110lb card base.

I used the same Waffle Flower Postage die to cut my purple panel and added that onto the card with foam tape. This panel already has a sentiment, so all I needed to finish the design is a few silver Nuvo drops.

I wanted to colour the last panel using my Arteza pencil crayons, they work so amazingly on black card stock!! I added a layer of white onto any areas I wanted to be highlights before adding the colour down. I just took my time, not attempting to create anything super realistic, just to enjoy the process of colouring.

I trimmed the panel slightly and added to a slimline card base, finishing off my design with a few Nuvo sequins in the colour Champagne. I already knew exactly who this card was going to as soon as I started colouring, so I enjoyed making it, knowing that its recipient would love it.
