Switching Up Embossing Colour Choices | WOW! Monthly Challenge March

Hey Crafty People!

You only have today & tomorrow left to enter the WOW Embossing Powder challenge and be in with the chance of winning a Guest Designer spot with WOW!

I’m here with a little more inspiration before we close; this month’s challenge theme is Colour & Texture; I focused on Texture in my video tutorial, but today I want to talk a little about Colour, or more specifically, colour choice.

This gorgeous In The Navy powder that was released in January is absolutely gorgeous and I wanted to use it as a substitute for black, to get a different look to a stamped image.

I coloured this in with Copic Markers, and its not a good idea to used them with embossing, so I stamped this in a light blue ink using my MISTI and left the stamp in place whilst I coloured the image.

This didn’t take too long to colour, and I just used a 3 colour blend for the larger flowers and 2 colour blends for everything else.

Once I was happy with my image, I popped it back into the same corner of my MISTI and stamped the image again using Ultra Slow Drying Embossing ink from WOW!

Then I could tip over the gorgeous navy powder and heat set that in place.

I love doing this double stamped technique to get around soke inks/mediums mot mixing well together.

I also love that the Navy powder looks great on these cards, and gives a completely different finish than the normal black or metallic that I tend to reach for.

I stamped one of the greetings from the same stamp set by Altenew, called Hello Hydrangea onto navy cardstock with white embossing powder.

I finished the design really simply with some clear droplets which are from Trinity Stamps.

Don’t forget to enter the monthly challenge to be in with a chance of winning this month’s awesome prize!
