Hey Crafty People!
I’m sharing such an easy, tone-on-tone ink blending technique that you could use with any stencils that you might have; you can also go with any colours you want, but of course, I couldn’t resist the Rainbow!
Quite honestly, I love that new stencil and panel die from Erin Lee so much that I made three cards with them, as soon as I opened my package! haha!
I’ve already shared one HERE, but now I’m sharing the other two.
*** TOP TIP: Use the ‘scrap’ bits from this card to create the second card, so be sure to read through both before trying them! ***
- Start by *lightly* blending your colour combo onto an a2 panel of Neenah 80lb. (I chose the Date Night inks from Catherine Pooler, but I only used the first 7inks. Colours are linked below)
- Then blend on the same colours through the Burlap stencil, but this time really pack on that intense colour. It’s important that you blend the SAME colours back over each section to get that tone-on-tone look.
- Die cut the ink blended panel with the new Rounded Accent die.
- Splatter with black ink/watercolour
- Die cut the Jumbo ‘hi’ die from black Glitter cardstock (out of the Las Vegas cardstock sampler pack). Stack this on top of 2-3 white die cuts for dimension.
- Glue the sentiment to the bottom right hand side of the rainbow panel, and then glue this panel to an a2 card base. (Again, adhere this to the bottom right hand side for something a little different!
- Embellish with black glitter sequins.
Waste Not, Want Not…
- Before cleaning off your stencil, spritz lightly with water, across the whole inked area; now place a panel of watercolour/mixed media cardstock over the inked area. Let it sit there for a few seconds, and gently apply pressure across the back of the whole panel. This way you are giving that ink some time to transfer over onto the cardstock. Lift the panel, without swiping it across the stencil and set aside to dry.
- Once dry, adhere the outside of the die cut ink blended panel. (No waste here!!!)
- Carefully, cut around the negative from the die cut sentiment you made before. (I went for a thin border around the whole word itself, but you could die cut a shape round it for a different look!)
- Adhere this to the panel, and don’t forget to add this little bits from inside the loops!
- Embellish with black glitter sequins.
