I love making interactive cards, and these Twinkle Lights add the perfect, easy light up touch to this sweet Valentine’s design! Today, I’m sharing a fun way to incorporate lights into your cards with some simple paper surgery and layering techniques.

Easy Light Up Card ‘Scent with Love’

• Stamp your main image and sentiment using Versafine Onyx Black ink. Cover with WOW! Clear Gloss Embossing Powder, tap off the excess, and heat set. Die cut both the image and sentiment with coordinating dies. Also, cut a second image from pink vellum.
• Cut your background layers: A2-sized white panel with decorative die-cut details.A slightly larger pink panel to layer behind.A paler pink decorative die-cut piece.A white circle for the focal area.Die cut a hole in the pink decorative layer to allow space for the Twinkle Lights.
• Blend pink ink around the edges of the pale pink panel, creating a soft spotlight effect.
• Splatter metallic pink paint over the white layers and set them aside to dry.

Easy Light Up Feature

• Separate the Twinkle Lights from the pack and insert the battery. Plan the placement for the battery pack on the back of your pink, ink blended decorative pieces and adhere it in place with strong tape. Feed the lights through the hole in the pink panel and secure the wires with tape.
• Carefully fussy cut the inside of the heart from the stamped image. Use a black marker to edge the cut lines for a clean finish. Adhere the pink vellum behind the heart.
• Using a single hole punch, add a hole to the white circle that will let your lights through. Thread the lights through the hole and secure them in place. Layer all background pieces together, ensuring the hole is hidden beneath the focal image.
• Attach the image and sentiment using foam tape, ensuring the button remains accessible.

Finishing Touches

• Stamp a small “press here” sentiment near the button in coordinating pink ink.
• Embellish with clear heart gems in a balanced arrangement.
• Add a small black sentiment strip to complete the design.
