Hello lovelies,
This month’s challenge is to use Embossing Glitter or Glintz powders; I chose a glitter powder I had already got in my collection which I felt had been somewhat neglected up to now, so I decided to give it a starring role in this ‘somewhat’ extra full panel shaker card!
I wanted to use this new-to-me ‘happy’ die from Lawn Fawn, so I used my Versamark pad to emboss a panel of Neenah Solar White with Mermaid Tales embossing glitter from WOW!
Once the panel was fully covered and had cooled down I ran it through my Big Shot 3 times to give me 3 sparkly die cuts. I also embossed the word Birthday from another Lawn Fawn set
I created the full panel shaker element by cutting a sheet of acetate to 6 1/4in x 7 1/2in, scoring it at 1in from each edge; this gives me a finished card size of 4 1/4in x 5 1/2in with a 1in flap on every edge. I cut a panel of deep grey cardstock from Hobbycraft to be just a shade smaller than the given card size.
Using super strong double sided tape I attached the bottom flap and both side flaps to the cardstock. You should end up with a pocket, sealed on 3 sides, then before I sealed the top flap I tipped in a generous amount of silver stars.
I found that the best way to stick the glittered sentiments was to run them through my mini Xyron sticker maker, which adds a layer of strong glue to the back of the whole die cut. Then it was just a case of spacing each one out evenly; I started with the centre one, which makes it easier to then space out the others.
I ended up with a card that certainly packs a punch; it would definitely make an impression on whoever received it!!
It’s quite difficult to see in the photos, but that WOW! embossing glitter is so stunning! It’s a mix of blue & silver, with different sized flakes that gives such a gorgeous sparkle in real life.
This month’s Lawn Fawnatics challenge is ‘bring it back’ so I decided to use 2 elements from older Lawn Fawn sets: the ‘scripty happy’ die is chunky enough to hold it’s own when enrobed in this bold glitter, then I loved pairing it with this really simple ‘birthday’ from the Year 2 stamp set. I love pairing 2 contrasting fonts in my sentiments.
I love Lawn Fawn’s signature style and they are my go-to for scene building and cute cartoon characters/critters but I really wanted to step out of my own comfort zone and show how you can stretch those supplies to create a huge variety of cards that are suitable for anyone’s taste.
I really enjoyed challenging myself to stretch my supplies and once I started, I couldn’t stop, so I’ll definitely be adding a blog post on this soon.
I’m entering this card into the following challenges:

Hey Crafty People!
Please be aware:
As part of my Design Team and Guest Design work I do often receive free products to use, but I only ever recommend products that I genuinely love.
Also, I know how incredibly lucky I am to have these opportunities, but you don’t always NEED the newest products or the ‘full set’.
So please don’t feel that you need everything.
I like to show a variety of brands and products; this way there will be something for everybody to enjoy.
