Somewhere over the last couple of months I completely forgot to share this card I made with one of Spellbinders’ Stitching Dies of the Month. (Not sure how I managed it, but I guess it’s better late than never!) So here is my card featuring stitching on glitter cardstock.

This gorgeous set features different pieces that can be layered up to make intricate florals with stitched elements. I chose several of the pieces and layered them to create a large, focal element.

Stitching on Glitter Cardstock

1. Die cut the seperate pieces from Altenew Gradient Glitter Cardstocks. Take care to make sure all of the stitching holes have cut fully, using one or more scrap paper shims if needed.
2. Select thread which matches the colour pallette of your flower and follow simple patterns; go up through the bottom centre hole from the back, secure the end with some tape and then go back down through the left hand most hole. From here, yiu go back up the blame bottom hole and down through the next top hol over from your last. Continue like this until you have gone all the way from one end to the other. Again, securing the end of the thread to the back with tape. Repeat with each of the pieces you want to stitch.
3. Layer up your petals and flower centre with layers of foam adhesive or liquid glue in between to give some variation and dimension. Now adhere to your stem and set aside to dry fully. (Try laying something like an acrylic block or your phone on top to make sure the layers will adhere properly whilst the glue dries.)

If you’ve never tried stitching on glitter cardstock then I can wholeheartedly recommend it! That tone-on-tone stitching over the different shades of glitter look absolutely stunning in real life!

Easy Ombre Background

1. For the background, select 3x ink shades (all Catherine Pooler for me), swipe the lightest across your panel in a diagonal motion, leaving patches of uneven colour as it adds to the interest!) Next, swipe your mid shade and finally your darkest to get this easy ombre look.
2. Swipe your mid colour around the outside of the panel, to give an interesting border.
3. Splatter silver or white pearl watercolour over the panel and allow to dry fully.
4. Once dry, adhere your floral to the centre.
5. Glimmer a small sentiment with Black matte foil and trim into a strip, with an angled end. Adhere to your card, with foam adhesive, across your flower stem.
